Doing it again

With the arrival of the new edition of our workbook Transformative Nutrition, I'm thinking it's time for me to jump in and go through the 8 week course again. And I'm excited for the reminder of what matters, of what helped me lose 70 lbs. Because I am not a nutrition expert or weight-loss master here, though I teach and coach people, I am more accurately a practitioner, in on-going practice. In all honesty, I've dropped some of my tools along the way and my practice could use a refresher. As I go through the course I welcome your comments and invite you to practice with me.

So, this first week is all about being nourished by balanced living as much as balanced eating. Food is not just what we eat, but everything we take in that feeds us on all levels, body, mind, and spirit. In week 1 of the workbook, I just assessed the way my life is currently looking and I realized that my physical activity level has declined since my bike was stolen a few weeks ago. Bastards! I've actually been gifted a new/used bike this week. Thank you Yocheved...I'm so grateful!

Prior to the theft, vacations, etc. I’d been committed to moving my body every day in some way, if not the elliptical, then riding my bike to work, or taking a long walk, or a yoga class, or dancing. It felt so good, and now that I pay attention to it, down to 3 days a week isn’t enough for me. So this week I’m back to it. I will intentionally move my body in some way every day! We’d call this a "life snack”, something nourishing that you practice rather than eat. What could you “snack” on? Maybe you’ve been starved for movement too? Or, time with a friend, quiet time alone, being creative, being touched, getting more sleep, learning something new, a spiritual practice perhaps…?

I’ll let you know how my week goes…

See the exercise from the workbook attached to help you assess your own situation.
